Detailed Itinerary:
Day 1. Arrive to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia
Ulaanbaatar is a capital city of Mongolia and continues as the major commercial and cultural center of the country, as well as its most populous and most cosmopolitan city. Do check in at your hotel and prepare for the dinner and first briefing of the adventure in Mongolia. You will be introduced with Mongolia’s history, culture, architecture, nature, people and their tradition and local cuisine. Overnight in hotel. L,D
Day 2. Domestic flight to Bayan-Ulgii province
Today after breakfast we will board the domestic flight from Ulaanbaatar to Ulgii city (the most western province of Mongolia). After 3 hours flight we arrive to Ulgii city followed by a few more hours of drive to the Eagle Hunter’s family where you will spend next few days exploring the nomadic culture and the ancient tradition of hunting with Golden Eagles. Overnight with nomadic Eagle hunter’s family. B,L,D
Days 3-4. Staying with Eagle Hunter’s Family and experiencing the nomadic lifestyle
Next two days we will stay at our Eagle Hunter’s family while enjoying the stunning nature. In these days you will have an opportunity to experience the real nomadic life and culture while seeing the Eagle hunter to prepare and train with his majestic Eagle for the upcoming Golden Eagle Festival. We will do a horse riding, visiting the other nomads, experience their nomadic lifestyle, training process of Eagle for the festival. Overnight in a cozy yurt. B,L,D
Days 5-6. The Golden Eagle Festival 2024/25
Next two days will be the main highlight of our trip. We will drive together with our Eagle Hunter and his majestic Eagle to the Festival location. Meet the Kazakh Eagle-hunters. The rodeo of eagle-hunting. A fantastic opportunity for photographers and adventurers alike to see these magnificent birds up close. There are approx. 400 eagle-hunters in Bayan-Ulgii province. This means, almost 80% of the eagle-hunters in the world lives here in Mongolia. The eagle-hunters from around regions gather to test their finely trained birds in singular contests of speed and agility in these few days. During the festival we also see some Kazakh Traditional Games such as: Horse-racing, pick-up coins on Horseback, Wrestling and others. In the evening, we can enjoy a traditional Kazakh Concert. Day 7. Flight back to Ulaanbaatar
In the afternoon we fly back to Ulaanbaatar and check in at your hotel. Dinner in a traditional Mongolian restaurant. Overnight at hotel. B,L,D
Day 8. The biggest equestrian statue of Chinggis Khan
Today we drive to Chinggis Khan Equestrian Statue in Tsonjin Boldog. The massive statue made of 250 tons of gleaming stainless steel will take your breath away. In the afternoon drive back to Ulaanbaatar and city tour. B,L,D
Day 9. Exploring Ulaanbaatar city
Today, the last day in Mongolia, we will explore the city and do some shopping. You will be introduced with Mongolia’s history, culture, architecture, nature, people and their tradition and local cuisine. Visiting the biggest cashmere factory shop in the world. Overnight in hotel
Day 10. Departure back to home country. End of the trip!
Include:
Domestic flights, transportation within in Mongolia, accommodation (all the overnight hotel and yurts) three meals a day, drinking water (2 liters per day per person), English speaking guide, renting of riding horses or camels, support staff including drivers, all Border and National Park and Festival taxes and permits. Possible to help with some visa problems.
Do not include:
International transportation (from/to your home country), travel insurance, visas, departure tax, alcoholic drinks, gratuities, items of a personal nature.
During the trip:
Transportation: We will use 4X4 Toyota Land Cruisers for the tour.
Food: Three meals a day which includes: traditional Mongolian and Kazakh cuisines (European and Asian meals always available and if you are meat lover then there will be a beef and lamb meet in daily menu, if you are a vegetarian then no worries as well. We have a special menu too), fruits, cookies, juice and drinking water will always be available during the trip.
Accommodation: 3* or 4* hotels and yurts
What to bring: Water and wind proof jackets, sunglasses, good hiking boots, any personal items if needed, gloves (you will need it during the horse riding), small backpack, binoculars (there will be a lot of wild animals in the mountains so you can see/watch them from distance), torchlight and so on.
